He Wins the Cats Protection Rescue Cat of the Year Award

A cat from the UK who has an amazing ability to predict when his owner is about to suffer an epileptic seizure, has been named the Cats Protection's Rescue Cat of the Year 2006! It was a double celebration as Tee Cee also won the Hero Cat title, which recognizes brave cats that help to save the day.

"My stepfather, Michael, has complex epilepsy as well as other health problems, so he is unable to go out on his own as he can have seizures without warning," explained Samantha, who entered her catâs story into the Awards. "This is where Tee Cee has become a lifeline to both Michael and my mother, Jean. We noticed that Tee Cee began staring at my stepfather prior to a seizure and then ran to my mother to let her know all is not well, acting as an early warning system."

Once assistance arrives, the cat doesn't leave Michael's side until he regains consciousness. His seizure warnings have proved invaluable to the family.

Cats Protection Chief Executive, Helen Ralston said, "Tee Cee goes beyond what we would expect from our pets. What he does for the family is priceless and for that truly amazing gift, he deserves to be the Rescue Cat of the Year.â

Tee Cee's entry was one of over 400 received from all over the UK for Cats Protection's Rescue Cat of the Year Awards 2006. Now in its third year, the Awards celebrate those felines whose stories of survival, fate, bravery and heroism have inspired the humans who love and care for them.
